Re: My dA account's status

In the last journal entry, I said that I would try out using tumblr for a few months and probably deactivate this account if it worked out. It's time for a status update on that, although it's going to be a little more complicated.
To be honest, tumblr works out well enough for someone like me who also grassroots and uses social media to signal boost, but dA has a few benefits tumblr does not, such as posting to groups. It would be beneficial to keep both a tumblr and a dA at this point, so I will likely stay on the site.
However, I'm not sure I want to keep this account. It has legacy value to me, and it does allow me to track my own progress, but it also has a lot of baggage that I think is worth just deleting. Pre-2016, I was a huge piece of shit, and I just regret acting like that now. Even my modern twitter rants aren't as terrible as some of the things I've said on here, things that I would make fun of someone for saying now. Most of it's just funny in a dark sense, and I had a good time laughing at the psychotic asshole I used to be, but a few things are legitimately hurtful toward other people and I can't even laugh at those things. I just find myself being ashamed of them, and being reminded of these things that I've said just makes me want to distance myself from it.
If I keep this account, it'll probably have a lot of the garbage deleted from it. That includes the shitty meme submissions as well as the rant blogs that don't really do anything except blow off steam and say awful things.
I will definitely post the location of my new account if I decide to make one either in an edit of this post or in a new one. I am still a little undecided.

I'm going to move all of my old stuff over to the new account, and possibly my tumblr, over the next couple of weeks (so I can space my uploads out.) After that point, this account can be considered abandoned. I don't want to delete it, I want it to stand as a testament to the person I was, and give me a sense of continuity for who I've become. (That will likely bite me in the ass later but I want to see a record of my growth as a person, that is valuable to me.) Thanks to everyone who supported me by appreciating my work, sorry that I've been terrible with checking my messages and interacting with my audience, I will make a better effort of it from now on.

It's a WIP, I will probably make it look more presentable as I go. But I'll probably post art on there from now on just because it doesn't seem like it's worth having a dA anymore. They make you pay for features that are free everywhere else, they still don't let you block tags, and you still can't post/browse music or animations like every other site lets you do. This place is just woefully behind the times and I honestly get most of my art fed through Twitter these days anyway.
I also wanted a place to ramble about stuff, like a blog, so I'll probably also use it for that.

as far as the username change goes, eh, I just got bored of this one. It's kind of a shitty compromise name and it doesn't fit who I am anymore. Thought about just making a new dA but honestly, I barely use the site as-is and it seemed like a waste.

Alternative to SAI?

I'm looking for something I can use other than SAI because I'm sick of it being so unfriendly with my tablet.
The problem is I need a program that:
-doesn't run like shit on my PC (I have a good PC, you'd think this wouldn't be a problem except all the free open-source programs develop for fucking linux first and the win versions get gimped all to hell because either the other things take priority or because windows is a clusterfuck, which it is, but it's still incredibly frustrating)
-doesn't fight unreasonably hard with my tablet, as in, doesn't just arbitrarily stop sensing pressure and make me have to go into tskmngr and shut its processes down manually just to get it to work.
Programs I've tried so far that aren't working:
-MyPaint (the windows version has horrible brush lag and it's been a known issue for months. They apparently traced the reason back to some hardware combos not working well with wacom tablets and I doubt this is getting fixed anytime soon.)
-Krita (again the win version runs horribly with nasty brush lag but this time, nobody can find a reason for it that's newer than january and they're still having trouble finding a commonality)
-gimp (no, just no)
-artweaver (has no blending engine)
-BlackInk (see above)
autodesk sketchbook (see above)
-old mypaint (has no dedicated palette)
-artrage (not very good at being a digital program and even worse at actually emulating the media it's trying to)
-firealpaca (it's a gimped SAI)
-inkfish (haven't used it in a while but it was a very laggy beta when I tried it)
-mischief (see above)
I go pretty far underground to find software but I'm hoping there's someone who digs deeper than me who can help me.
These are my specs, I should be able to run most programs fine:

No longer taking commissions

(Like anyone gives a crap anyway)
Reason: Too stressful. Plus, everyone keeps asking me to draw things I cannot or will not. (mechanical things, weapons, rule34) and since there's no demand for things I actually CAN draw, I'm not going to bother advertising.
On the upside, it'll make art less stressful and hopefully enjoyable again if I don't have to give a crap about if people will pay me for it. All I really want is acclaim and admiration anyway, and I'm not in immediate need for cash right now anyway.
If anyone needs a landscape, I'm still here. :V
